This moving and touching documentary takes us into the everyday lives of the members of an unlikely orchestra: the Orchestre Symphonique Kimbanguiste, located in Kinshasa, a city of 10 million inhabitants and capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, a place ravaged by war, endemic poverty and corruption. Gateways Music Festival’s President & Artistic Director Lee Koonce will be joined by several Gateways musicians for a post-showing audience talkback.
“Kinshasa Symphony” is co-sponsored by the Rochester Association of Black Journalists (https://rabjournalists.org/) and in partnership with The Black Cinema Series (https://thelittle.org/series/black-cinema-series).
