“A JAZZMAN’S BLUES” SCREENS IN JUNE FOR BLACK MUSIC MONTH
The Black Cinema Series, a partnership between the Rochester Association of Black Journalists (RABJ) and the Little Theatre, presents the feature film “A JAZZMAN’S BLUES” on Thursday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m. at The Little (Theater 1), East End District, 240 East Ave., Rochester, NY. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Tyler Perry’s tale of forbidden love and family drama unravels 40 years of secrets and lies against a soundtrack of juke-joint blues in the Deep South.
The film is being screened during Black Music Month and on the eve of the 21st edition of the CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival (June 21-29).
Two of the jazz festival’s artists will be panelists for the Black Cinema Series.
AFTER THE FILM, THERE WILL BE A POST-SCREENING DISCUSSION.

JIMMIE HIGHSMITH JR. | Musician – Jimmie, or as his friends call him Tjari, was born September 18, 1967, in “Flower City” Rochester, NY. Critically acclaimed and an award-winning saxophonist, he in the last 20 years has recorded 11 top-selling smooth jazz CDs that have sold thousands worldwide with his 6th CD “The Anthology of Sound” receiving a Grammy nomination.
MODERATOR:
CINNAMON JONES | Vocalist – Cinnamon is a versatile musician in the industry. From Classical to Jazz, Blues, Gospel and R & B, she has performed at various concerts and festivals, captivating audiences with her unique style. Born and raised in the heart of New York City, “Brooklyn,” she just released a new single from her album “All Because Of You” in January 2024.
