The Black Cinema Series, a collaboration between Rochester Association of Black Journalists and the Little, presents “The Five Demands.” It follows the dramatic but little-known story of the 1969 student strike that transformed the face of higher education. Included in the program is a post-screening panel discussion.
Tickets are available online in advance or at the box office the day of the screening. Doors open at 7:00 pm; film starts at 7:30 pm. Little Cafe opens at 5 pm.
The Black Cinema Series, now in its sixth season with a launch of February 2017, screens both scripted and non-fiction films about the Black experience. With an emphasis on contemporary independent films, the series highlights Black perspectives and filmmakers, with screenings and panel discussions with community experts and filmmakers.
