Come to a free vegetarian dinner and group discussion at 6 PM on 1/7 at 51 Shepard St.!
The dinner is open to everyone, and the discussion will serve to form the structure of a new “intentional community” in the southeast Rochester neighborhoods (eg, the South Wedge, Highland Park, Cobbs Hill). An intentional community is a group of people regularly interacting in a cooperative mindstate and because of some other shared values/goals, and intentional communities are often housing communities, but this will not be a housing community. Rather it will be a vehicle to bring people together routinely into liberal, healthy, fun, intellectual experiences. We have already planned basic facets of the community: a bi-weekly dinner and a monthly open mic (for any age or art) in our homes, as well as a community email list where members can broadcast group activities or ideas. And, at the initial meeting, we will discuss any other possible facets of the community which anyone might suggest. For instance, we are thinking about forming a non-profit bartering website for Rochester, where people can exchange and lend goods and services (eg, lend unused space or rare tools, or exchange bike repair for music lessons or tutoring, etc).
Please RSVP (so we know how much food to make) or contact me for questions.
