For a second year in a row, we have three exciting opportunities at the conference:
1. Teacher Training for School Gardens, 10am-4pm: Educators from Finger Lakes Eat Smart New York will host a full-day teacher training for Sustainable School Gardening. Professional Development credit available. The seminar will focus on establishing, designing, building curricula for and sustaining school gardens. Participants will join the rest of the conference attendees for lunch. TO REGISTER: Select ONLY the “Teacher Training” ticket option.
2. Rain Barrel Construction Workshop: Rain barrels are a great way save money, conserve water and protect our waterways. Stormwater Coalition of Monroe County educators will lead participants in building their own 50-gallon rain barrels for their home or community garden. This session is sponsored by the City of Rochester, which is subsidizing the cost of the kits, but participants are asked to contribute $20 toward materials. TO REGISTER: Select BOTH the “General Conference including Rain Barrel Workshop” ticket option.
3. Two Guided Urban Agriculture Tours of Marketview Heights and Northwest Rochester, 2:40pm-4:10pm: These 90 minute tours will visit several sites in the area, where community members and farmers will explain the work they’re doing. TO REGISTER: select your ticket option (General Conference) and indicate your interest while filling out your ticketing information.
