SPONSOR: The Black Cinema Series is a partnership between the Rochester Association of Black Journalists (RABJ) and the Little Theatre.
SYNOPSIS: A lyrical decades spanning exploration across a woman’s life in Mississippi, the feature debut from award-winning poet, photographer and filmmaker Raven Jackson is a haunting and richly layered portrait, a beautiful ode to the generations of people and places that shape us. Besides being directed by Raven Jackson, the film is produced by Barry Jenkins (Moonlight).
DISCUSSION: After the film, there will be a talkback. Panelists are ADRIA WALKER of The Guardian and ALISON ESPINOSA of Rootworkers Croft.
ADMISSION: Tickets available online in advance or at the box office day of the screening.

The Black Cinema Series, a partnership between the Rochester Association of Black Journalists and the Little Theatre, screens both scripted and non-fiction films about the Black experience.
With an emphasis on contemporary independent films, the series highlights Black perspectives and filmmakers, with screenings and panel discussions with community experts and filmmakers.
Rochester Association of Black Journalists (RABJ) – the 2019 NABJ Professional Chapter of the Year – is an affiliate of the National Association of Black Journalists, an organization of more than 4,000 journalists, students and media-related professionals that advocate for diversity in newsrooms and news content.
The Little Theatre is the premier cultural center for the presentation of American independent and foreign films, visual arts and music for the greater Rochester community. Through educational events, the Little Theatre provides local artists a place to share and discuss their visions with a diverse audience.
